Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1 clove garlic, sliced
- 4-5 lb. boned, rolled beef rump roast
- 1 cup sliced onion
- 1 tsp. celery salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 honey
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. ginger

Step 1
Melt shortening in heavy dutch oven with tight-fitting cover. Add garlic and cook slowly; remove garlic and cook slowly; remove garlic when it starts to brown. Brown meat on all sides, turning as needed to brown evenly. Add onion; sprinkle celery salt and pepper over meat. Combine honey, vinegar, soy sauce and ginger; pour over meat is fork tender, 3 to 3 1/2 hours, turning meat and basting it several times. If more liquid is needed, add water a few tbsp. at a time.
