Ingredients
- Makes 1 pitcher
- 1 1/2 cups light rum
- 1 1/4 cups dark rum
- 1 1/4 cups passion fruit syrup (or substitute with grenadine)
- 1 1/4 cups fresh orange juice
- 1 1/4 cups fresh lime juice
- 3 tablespoons superfine sugar, or more to taste
- 1 large orange, cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
- Lime wedges and cherries for garnish

Step 1
No Mardi Gras celebration would be complete without mixing up a classic cocktail such as the Hurricane. Although some recipes call for a whole liquor cabinet’s worth of booze (vodka, gin, light rum, overproof rum, triple sec, etc.), we like this relatively simple recipe from the Big Easy’s own Emeril Lagasse. That said, batten down the hatches because this is one sneaky strong drink.
Makes 1 pitcher
Mix all ingredients in tall pitcher or large pot; stir to dissolve sugar
