• fine ripe strawberries
• sugar
• a good red wine

Preparation

Step 1

Wash and hull fine ripe strawberries several hours before you expect to serve them. Sugar them lightly in a deep glass or china bowl. Cover just to the top of the berries with a good red wine. Chill for several hours. When ready to serve, spoon berries out into dessert dishes, stir the wine and sugar in the bowl and pour a little over each serving of berries.
