Ingredients
- Meatballs:
- 4 ounces lean ground beef
- 4 ounces lean ground pork
- 1/4 bunch fresh dill
- 1/2 tablespoon EVOO
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (didn't have, I used fennel seeds)
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 tablespoon cranberry jam or sauce - I used Lingonberry jam
- 1 Tablespoon whipping cream or creme fraiche
- 2 tablespoons chicken broth
- 3 Tablespoons yogurt, for serving, optional
- 3 ounces Spaetzle noodles, cooked and dressed with a bit of Becel, to serve

Step 1
Place the ground meats in a mixing bowl, and season with salt and pepper. Finely chop and add most of the dill, then mix all the ingredients with the meat using your hands then shape into small meatballs (16-18). Heat oil over medium high heat, adding the meatballs and caraway seeds and cover. Turn and toss regularly until the meatballs are golden.
Add vodka to the meatballs, allowing to cook for a minute. Add the jam, cream, yogurt and broth and bring to a simmer, allowing the meatballs to finish cooking through.
Check for seasoning; adding an extra tablespoon of broth or yogurt if needed for consistency and serve meatballs over rice or egg noodles with remaining dill scattered over top (didn't bother).
