Ingredients

    envelope gelatin

  • 1/4

    cup cold water

  • 1 3/4

    cups milk

  • 1/2

    cup granulated sugar

  • 2

    eggs, slightly beaten

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • 1

    cup heavy cream, whipped

Directions

Soften gelatin in water. Dissolve over boiling water. Scald together milk and sugar. Stir a little of hot milk mixture into eggs. Return to remaining hot milk. Cook, stirring constantly, about 1 minute. Stir in dissolved gelatin. Remove from heat and blend in vanilla. Chill until very slightly thickened. Fold in whipped cream. Turn into a 5 cup mould. Chill until set.
