Ingredients

  • 1/4 peanut or sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp. dried onion flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp. trasi (shrimp paste)(optional)
  • 2 tsp. sambal ulek or 4 red chilies, minced and seeded
  • 4 Tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. raw sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or tamarind liquid

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in sausepan. saute onion and garlic until golden. drain on paper, leaving 2 Tbsp. oil. saute chilies and trasi on low heat for 1 minute. add peanut butter and water, and stir until blended. remove from heat and add salt, sugar, lemon juice and soy sauce, stir until blended. add more water if needed to achieve pouring consistency.
serve with chicken sautes and thai noodles.
