Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large can sliced peaches OR several fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together; add melted butter and milk, mix until mostly smooth. Pour this mixture into ungreased baking dish, about 9x13 inches. Place peach slices on top of this batter. Heat ¾ cup sugar and ¾ cup water until it boils and sugar is dissolved, mix in almond extract, and then pour gently over peaches and batter. Bake in oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown on top.
