Dear Readers: Don't toss out pantyhose and stockings that get a run! Instead, reuse clean, worn-out pantyhose for a lot of things. Look around the house to see what you can do to recycle them.

Store onions. Tie a knot in the feet for extra strength, and drop the onions in.

Store rolls of wrapping paper. The hose keep the rolls rolled up and protected much better than a rubber band or piece of tape can.

Use to tie up tomato plants in the garden or bundles of limbs to put out for pickup.

Use for making dolls or stuffed animals.

Cut out the elastic waistband and put it around the kitchen trash can to keep the trash bag from falling down inside.

Use the hose as a filter over your vacuum-cleaner attachment if you lose something small on the carpet or floor. The pantyhose will catch the missing item before it's sucked into the vacuum.
