Ingredients
- Cut up cukes (you can add cauliflower, small onions (optional) and place in crock.
- Bring to a boil, 1 cup fine salt over 2 qts boiling water.
- After 3 days bring brine to boil and pour over cukes - leave another three days.
- Drain brine and bring to boil.
- 1 gallon water and 1 tbsp alum
- Leave for six hours. Drain

Preparation
Step 1
Run cold water over cukes for 1/2 hour.
Bring to boil:
1 1/2 qts vinegar
4 lbs. white sugar
1 oz. celery seed
1 oz all spice berries
1 cinnamon stick
(place above ingredients in cheesecloth with twist tie)
Boil syrup for three days - bottle and seal.
