Ingredients
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 pkg. (14 oz.) kraft caramels,
- unwrapped
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate
- chunks

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 13 x 9" baking pan.
Melt chocolate and shortening in a large saucepan over low heat.
Remove from heat.
Mix in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and pecans.
Spread in pan.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Place caramels and milk in microwavable bowl.
Microwave on high 2 1/2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.
Stir until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended.
Gently spread over brownie in pan.
Sprinkle with chocolate chunks.
Cool in pan on wire rack.
Lift out of pan onto cutting board.
Cut into squares.
