Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- pinch salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Scald milk. In a saucepan, combine flour, sugar and salt. Gradually add scalded milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Cover and cook 2 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
Stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg. Blend into remaining hot mixture. Cook 1 minute longer, stirring constantly Remove from heat and blend in butter and vanilla. Cool.
