Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups flour
  • SYRUP
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup kahlua
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup

Step 1

Soak 1 T yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and 1/2 tsp sugar. Let rise. sour cream to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in oil, 3 T sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp soda. Stir until lukewarm. Add egg and mix. Add yeast and 3 cups flour; knead. Let rise to double.

Meanwhile combine syrup ingredients and bring to a simmer; remove from heat.

When dough has risen, punch down; let rest 5 minutes. Turn out and assemble into buns. Pour all but 1/3 cup of syrup into baking pan; arrange bun slices on top; cover loosely with waxed paper; let rise until double (25 minutes).

Bake at 375 for 20 - 25 minutes. Let stand in pan for 5 minutes; invert onto plate; spoon reserved syrup on top.
