Salisbury Steak with Onion Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 5 medium onions, peeled, sliced
- 3 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp. granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 1/2 lbs. chuck, ground
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. accent
- 1/4 tsp. pepper

Step 1
About 40 minutes before serving:
1. Preheat broiler 10 min. In salad oil, in medium skillet, over medium heat, cook onions 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Add 1 1/2 cups cold water, soy sauce and sugar; bring to a boil, then cook over med. heat, 10 min. or until onions are tender. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup cold water, then slowly stir into onions until sauce thickens. Set aside and keep warm.
3. In medium bowl, with 2 forks, mix ground chuck well with salt, accent, and pepper; shape into 4 patties. Place these hamburger patties on broiler rack, then broil 4 minutes on each side or to desired doneness.
4. Arrange hamburger patties on heated platter, then spoon some of cooked onions on top of each patty; serve hot.
