Ingredients

  • I've been working on this one for awhile and it's finally just how we like it. It's a little spicy and a little sweet. If you like it less spicy just omit the crushed red pepper flakes, you can always
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 6-8 links mild Italian sausage
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 Red Bell pepper (chopped)
  • Sliced fresh mushroom
  • 2 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 15 oz. canned tomato sauce
  • 2 6 oz. canned tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup sugar or 4 tbsp brown sugar (splenda)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Fresh flat parsley (chopped) or 1 tsp. dried
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or fresh
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning

Preparation

Step 1

1. Brown sausage links in a fry pan over medium heat for about 15 minutes or until nice and brown.
2. Using the same sauce pan add the onions and hamburger and cook until hamburger is browned also add some garlic with the meat
3. Mix all ingredients in a crockpot and cook on low 8-10 hours or high 4-6 hours.
4. Serve over spaghetti noodles with fresh parmesan cheese.
5. Freezes well!
6. Note: If adding meat balls – prepare meatballs and add to crockpot. ( You can add the meatballs 3 hours before serving)
7. You can also add fresh basil, fresh oregano, fresh parsley for more flavor.
8. Remove bay leaves before serving.
