Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 6 Tb. cocoa powder
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 Tb. vinegar (I use white vinegar)
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups cold water
- 1 egg

Step 1
In large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add to that the vegetable oil, vinegar, vanilla, water and egg. Mix on low speed to combine, then speed up the mixer to a medium speed and mix for at least 2 minutes. Pour batter into a greased and flour 13x9 inch cake pan for a really thick cake or you can pour into a jelly roll size cake pan. (I use Pam with flour in it, to grease my pan with) Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30-35 minutes. Remove and let cool. I usually frost with a chocolate frosting...but you can use any kind of frosting you choose.
TIP: this recipe also works without the egg.
