Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts - optional
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 3/4 cup hot tap water
  • Ice cream

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, white sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt in ungreased 9-by-9-inch pan. Add milk, oil, vanilla. Mix well. Add nuts. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa. Pour hot water over batter. Bake 350 F for 40 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes. Cut into squares. Serve with ice cream and spoon sauce over each serving.
