Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 10" pie shell
  • 3 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 lb. hamburg
  • 1 10 oz. pkg. frozen spinach,
  • thawed
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream ( 1/2 Pint )
  • 1/2 cup coarsely grated cheddar
  • cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Prick pie shell all over with a fork and bake 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
In a medium sized skillet melt butter over moderate heat; add onion and cook until soft. Add beef to skillet and brown. Drain and discard fat.
Squeeze spinach in hands to remove as much moisture as possible.
In a bowl throughly mix the beef and onion with the spinach, salt, pepper,and nutmeg.
Beat eggs with cream and stir into the meat mixture.
Pour into pastry shell and sprinkle with cheese.
Turn oven down to 375 degrees.
Bake for 30 minutes, until top is speckled brown and filling is set.
Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
