Ingredients

  • Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground sirloin
  • 1 lb italian chicken sausage, casings removed
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2-3/4 good quality ground parmesam
  • dash garlic powder
  • Sauce:
  • Large can Tuttarossa or Conto crushed tomatoes
  • 3 (14 oz) cans Hunts tomato sauce
  • 1 diced onion
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • olive oil

Preparation

Step 1

Meatballs:

Mix all ingredients together and form into balls.
Brown in olive oil.
Either cook through by frying or bake at 350 for 15-20 min on parchment paper/cookie sheet.

Sauce:

Coat saucepot with olive oil and brown onion and garlic.
Add tomatoes and sauce. Stir.
Add meatballs.
Cook 3-4 hours on very low heat (barely bubbling), partially covered.
Add oregano, parmesan, basil, and pepper to taste.

Makes 40 meatballs
