Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 3 large carrots, finely chopped
- 1-2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp, chervil
- 1 tsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. dried sage, crumbled
- 2/3 cup dry red wine or beef broth
- 3 about 3 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Saute large onion and garlic. Add beef, breaking up as it browns. Add carrots and herbs, tomato paste and wine. Simmer 30 minutes. Spoon mixture into a well buttered casserole dish. Spread potatoes on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 8 - 10 minutes.
