• 1 tsp soda
• 1 tsp nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 eggs
• 4 tbsp milk
• 4 cups sifted flour
• 1/2 tsp almond extract or lemon extract
