Ingredients

  • 1- 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkgs. yeast
  • 1/2 warm water
  • 5- 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs

Preparation

Step 1

Scald milk.
Set aside in large bowl sugar, shortening and salt.
Add milk.
Cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add 2 cups flour to milk mixture.
Add the eggs and dissolved yeast.
Add enough flour to make a soft dough, approximately 3 1/2 cups more.
Knead 3 - 5 minutes.
Put dough in greased bowl, grease top of dough.
Cover and let rise in warm area for 1 1/2 hours of until doubled in size.
Punch down and let rest 10 minutes.
Form rolls and place in greased muffin tins.
Cover and let rise about 45 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
Butter tops while hot.


Yield: 2 1/2 dozen
