Ingredients
- 1 cup grapenuts cereal
- 2 cups sour milk or buttermilk
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- salt
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 4 cups flour

Preparation
Step 1
Soak grapenuts, sour milk, and sugar for 1 hour.
Add the remaining ingredients.
Pour into 2 greased loaf pans.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
Cool completely before removing from pan.
To sour milk : add 1 Tbsp. white vinegar or lemon juice to milk to make 1 cup. Let sit till soured.
