Ingredients

  • 1 crust-basic crisco
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup + 1 Tbsp. crisco
  • 1/4 cup Ice water
  • 2 -crusts-with butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 3/4 cup crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 5 T ice water
  • 1 T white vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Crisco only recipe-
1-Whisk together flour and salt.
2-Cut crisco into flour mixture with a pastry cutter or 2 butter knives. Mixture should be pea size. Don't overmix.
3-Add ice water 1 TB at a time. Lightly mix with fork until dough comes together.
4-Shape into disc, wrap in plastic and refrigerate until needed.
Butter/Crisco combo-
1-Whisk together flour and salt.
2-Cut butter and crisco into flour mixture with pastry cutter.
3-Lightly beat egg with fork and add to mixture.
4-Add vinegar and as much water as needed to bring dough together.
5-Divide into 2 portions and form into discs.
6-Chill in zip loc bags
