Ingredients

  • 17 cups of popped popcorn (about 2/3 cup unpopped)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 teas salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 teas vanilla
  • 1/8 teas green paste food color

Preparation

Step 1

Measure popcorn into a very large bowl. in a 5 quart pot, mix sugar, water, light corn syrup, salt, and butter. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. mixture will boil up quite high in pan. cook to 250 degrees F (hard ball stage). Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and green paste color. Pour hot candy mixture in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring constantly to mix well. With buttered hands, shape mixture into balls. mixture will be HOT, so handle with care. make about 10 popcorn balls.
