Ingredients

  • 6-8 Granny Smith Apples-peeled and thinly sliced (about 6 cups)
  • 3/4 -1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 -1 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg and salt
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam
  • 2 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
  • Pastry for a 9 inch two crust pie

Preheat oven to 400°


If apples lack tartness, sprinkle with 1 tbsp of lemon juice.

Combine sugar, flour and spices.

Mix with apples.

After putting bottom pie pastry in pie dish brush with melted (warmed to thin) apricot jam.

Fill lined pie dish with the apple mixture; dot with butter pieces.

Adjust top crust, seal edges and cut slits (4) for steam to escape. Brush with an egg wash.

Bake on a cookie sheet for 50 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool and serve.
