Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup hot water
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup shortening or softened butter
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted (cool before adding).
- Chocolate Frosting:
- 6 Tbsp. butter, softened
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 4-5 - Tbsp. evaporated milk or half and half (depending on what consistency you like)
- 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan or two 9-inch round pans.
Dump all ingredients into a mixer and mix on low speed blend for about 30 seconds, scrape bowl and then increase speed to medium and mix for 3 minutes.
Pour into prepared pan and 30-35 mins for 9x13 or 20-25 mins for round pans or until toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool and frost with favorite frosting.
Frosting: In a medium bowl combine butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and vanilla mix until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
