Ingredients

  • Hard boiled eggs, shell intact

  • 1

    package regular food coloring

  • 1

    package neon food coloring

  • 2

    tablespoons white vinegar, per cup

  • 1

    cup boiling water, per cup

Directions

Hard boil however many eggs you want to color using whatever method works best for you (I am not going to go into this topic, as there are about as many differing opinions on how to prepare the perfect egg as there are hairs on a dog). Have a selection of cups available, one for each color you want to dye eggs. Bring a pot of water to a boil and hold at a simmer. Add vinegar and water to each cup followed by the food coloring. Stir to mix each color separately. Allow eggs to stand in the dye bath for at least 15 minutes for the first egg, and 20 minutes for the second. Mix a new cup of dye if you want to make more than two of any color. Here are some formulas for colors: RED 10 drops neon pink 1 drop neon purple 2 drops red ORANGE 20 drops yellow 5 drops red YELLOW 15 drops yellow 2 drops neon green GREEN 20 drops neon green 2 drops neon blue 1 drop green BLUE 6 drops neon blue 1 drop blue INDIGO 7 drops neon blue 5 drops neon pink VIOLET 10 drops neon pink 2 drops neon purple
