Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 3 Tb. butter
- 1 lb. roasted/salted peanuts

Step 1
1. Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Butter 2 cookies sheets and keep them warm in the oven. In a small bowl, mix the baking soda, the 1 tsp. water and the vanilla and set aside for later use.
2. Mix sugar, 1 cup of water and corn syrup in a large saucepan. Cook over heat, stirring occasionally, until 240 degrees is reach on a candy thermometer or until a small amount of the mixture dropped in cold water forms a soft ball like consistency.
3. Stir in butter and peanuts. Cook, stirring constantly, until 300 degrees is reached on the candy thermometer or until small amount dropped in cold water separates into hard brittle threads. Keep stirring to keep it from burning. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in baking soda mixture until it is light and foamy.
4. Pour half the candy mixture onto each warmed cookie sheet. Quickly spread it till about 1/4 inch thick. Cool completely and then break into pieces.
