  • 1 lb. lard
  • 1/2 lb. rosin
  • 1/2 lb. beeswax
  • 1 oz. Camphor gum
  • 1 oz. Balsam Fir*

Step 1

Melt lard, rosin and beeswax in a large iron skillet on a wood burning stove** (low heat); add Camphor and Balsam Fir. Cook mixture until dark brown, stirring often. Pour mixture into small jars or salve tins and cap. Salve will aid in healing cuts, sore, burns and bites and will cure some skin cancers. Can also be used as a drawing salve for boils or spinters and will work on man or beast. * This ingredient is also called Canada Balsam or Balm of Gilead. **If a wood stove is not available, low to medium heat on any kitchen range should work.
