Ingredients
- Cream cheese filling:
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp quick rise yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 egg
- 6 oz cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 T margarine, softened
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 T butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2-3 T milk

Preparation
Step 1
In a saucepan, heat milk, butter, and water to 120 degrees. Combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients, and beat until moistened. Add egg and remaining flour. Beat until smooth. Shape into a ball, but do not knead. Cover and let rest for 10 min.
Roll out into a 14-in x 11-in rectangle on a large greased baking sheet. Spread cream cheese filling down the center third of the rectangle. Top that with fruit, if desired (blueberries, canned cherry pie filling, etc.) On each side, cut strips for braiding (equal #) Fold alternating strips at an angle across the filling. Pinch ends to seal. Cover and let rise until doubled, around 45 minutes.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
Mix glaze together and drizzle over top
