Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 7% fat, Extra Extra Lean, (93 % lean)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, or 1 minced clove
- 28 ounces tomatoes, canned
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, diced
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup chili powder, less for kids
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, up to 1 1/2 t.
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin, maybe 2 t. cumin
- 1 bay leaf
- 30 ounces pinto beans, canned, (or kidney beans, or both ) for a total of 2 cans drained

Preparation
Step 1
Brown meat in skillet. Drain well, and transfer to a crock-pot or slow cooker. Add all remaining ingredients and slow cook 4 to 8 hours, Remove bay leaf before serving.
Serve with Corn Bread
Dietary Exchanges: 3 lean meat, 1 vegetable, 1 bread/starch
NOTES : Start with only 1 to 2 Tablespoons Chili powder for the Kids. I like Spicy but the Kids don't.
