  • 1 pkg. Kraft caramels (50)
  • 1 (5-oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 c. oleo, melted
  • 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1 (6-oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat caramels and 1/4 cup evaporated milk in saucepan over medium heat, stiring until melted and mixture is smooth. Kepp warm over low heat, stirring once in awhile. Mix dry cake mix, oleo, rest of milk and nuts. Spread 1/2 of dough in ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake for 6 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle chocolate cips over baked layer. Drizzle caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Drop remaining dough by teaspoons onto caramel layer, spreading evenly. Bake until cake is slightly dry to touch, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars.
