Preparation

Step 1

1. Sift dry ingredients together and set aside in a large bowl.
2. Whisk together milk and sour cream and add to dry ingredients.
3. Beat 4 eggs and add to flour and sour cream and combine.
4. Melt 2 sticks butter and add to mixture. Stir mixture until smooth.
5. Heat waffle iron to the highest setting. Most waffle irons have either a beep or a light to show you that it has reached the highest temperature.
6. Fill waffle iron to barely cover each square. Remember that the waffles will rise during the cooking process so don't overfill.
7. Once the baking process has started -- DO NOT PEEK. Your waffle iron should have a light or beep when the waffles are done. But a rule of thumb is that when the steam coming from the waffle iron slows down to almost nothing the waffles are done.

Reheating leftover waffles:
To reheat waffles takes them straight from the freezer to a hot oven, 400 degrees, and place the waffles directly on the oven rack -- no cookie sheet. Check waffles after about 3-4 minutes.
