Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak, cut 1 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce, low sodium
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup carrot slices, frozen, steamed
  • 1 1/2 cups pea pods, frozen, steamed

Step 1

Combine soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, scallions and garlic powder in a small bowl. Place steak in a pie pan and pour marinade over steak, turning to coat. marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours. Discard the marinade. Place steak on broiler rack, so surface of meat is three inches from the heat. Broil for 20 minutes, turning once. Meanwhile, arrange steamed carrots and peas around outside edges of serving platter. carve beef into 4 servings and place in the middle of platter. Serve.

Notes:

NOTES : This is my favorite marinade. The fat count with this nutritional analizer is higher than the book I got this recipe out of. I think this has to do with the wide variation in meat and how its trimmed. I think if you trim the round steak of most of the visible fat, the actual fat content will be much less than indicated in the analysis.
