Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownies

Ingredients

• 1 c. flour, sifted
• 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 1/8 tsp. soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/2 c. nuts
• 1/3 c. butter or margarine
• 1 c. brown sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1/2 pkg. chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour once; measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Add nuts and mix well. Melt shortening in saucepan. Remove from heat, add sugar and mix well. Cool. Add egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture a little at a time, mixing well after each addition. Turn into 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips on top. Bake in moderate 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
