Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 lg. egg
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Sauce:
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 T. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. butter

Preparation
Step 1
Sift together for cake flour, baking powder and salt. Add shortening, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla. Pour in greased and floured 9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Sauce: Put sugar and flour in pan and add boiling water. Stir and thicken, then add vanilla and butter. Pour sauce over cake. Serve warm.
