  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 T. cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 T. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Step 1

Mix together sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring all the time. Reduce heat and continue to stir until mixture is smooth and thickens. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla and stir in. Pour into serving dishes. Can be served either warm or cold. To stop a skin forming, place plastic wrap on the surface while cooling.
