Ingredients
- 1 pkg. quick-rising yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2/3 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 2/3 c. butter or oleo
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 lg. egg
- 2 tsp. salt
- 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. raisins
- Cooking oil (for deep frying)

Step 1
Add 1 teaspoon sugar to yeast and disolve in warm water. Then heat 1 1/2 cups milk to boiling and add 2/3 c. butter. Set aside to cool. In a large bowl, beat egg with 2 teaspoons salt and 3/4 cup sugar. To this, add the yeast mixture and the cooled milk mixture. Add raisins and beat in the flour. It should be a pretty thick batter. Let rise in a warm place until it comes to the top of the bowl. Have cooking oil hot and drop by tablespoonfuls into frying grease. Fry until brown on both sides. Take out and roll in sugar.
