Ingredients

  • 1 lb pork sausage
  • 4 1/2 cups bread, cubed
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 3 scallions, chopped
  • 10 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp dry mustand or 1 squirt of yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Optional topping: sliced mushrooms

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°

Chop and brown sausage until cooked; drain fat.

Spray 9" X 13" baking dish with PAM , and put cubed bread in bottom. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the cheese cheese.

Mix together the eggs with the milk; add green onions, mustand, onion powder, salt and pepper.

Pour evenly over the bread and cheese. Sprinkle with sausage, remaining cheese and mushrooms (if desired)

Cover and refrigerate overnight. (If you don't choose to do this, let it sit for at least 15 minutes before baking)

Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes. If top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
