DOUBLE FUDGE FANCIFUL

For a quick and easy dessert, you can always make a boxed cake mix. To make the boxed cake mix special, try adding a filling, such as this one.

Ingredients

• FILLING
• 1/4 Cup sugar
• 1 Tbs. cornstarch
• 2 Tbs. butter
• 2 Tbs. milk
• 1/2 Tsp. vanilla
• 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
• 1 egg
• BASE*
• 1 Pkg. Pillsbury Plus Devil’s Food cake mix
• 1 Cup water
• 1/3 Cup vegetable oil
• 3 Eggs
• FROSTING
• 1 Can Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Preparation

Step 1

Grease and flour 13x9” pan. In small bowl blend all filling ingredients; beat at highest speed until smooth and creamy. Set aside. In large bowl blend cake mix, water, oil and eggs until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed. Pour half of batter into prepared pan. Pour cream cheese mixture over batter, spreading to cover. Pour remaining batter over cream cheese mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees 45-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and frost.

*If you have to follow high altitude instructions for cake mixes: Add 2 Tbs. flour to dry cake mix and increase water to 1 ¼ cups + to tablespoons. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes.
