Ingredients
- 1 large egg white
- 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 cup finely shredded carrot
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pound 95% lean ground beef
- Non-aerosol cooking spray
- 1 medium tomato, sliced

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven broiler. In a large bowl, combine egg white and bread crumbs; add water and stir in carrot, onion, green bell pepper, salt and pepper. Add Parmesan cheese and ground beef; blend well and shape mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties. Place burgers on the unheated rack of a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat source for 7 minutes; turn and broil for 8 to 11 minutes more or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees with an instant read thermometer. Place a tomato slice on top of each burger and broil for 1 minute more.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Steamed new potatoes and steamed green and yellow (wax) beans.
