Ingredients
- 1 (9-inch) pie shell, baked
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. milk
- 4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 4 T. oleo
- 1 T. + 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Stir sugar, cornstarch and salt in pan. Blend milk and egg yolks, gradually stir into sugar mixture and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Boil, then remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Pour into pie shell and cover with meringue or Cool Whip.
For butterscotch: Substitute 1 cup brownsugar for white. Use only 1 teaspoon vanilla.
For banana: Slice 2 large bananas into shell. Pour filling over bananas after cooling.
For Coconut Cream: Add 2 teaspoons vanilla and 3/4 cup flaked coconut into filling. Top meringue or Cool Whip wit sprinkles of coconut
