What is Schnitzel

By

While most of these words were written by I Like Germany.com. Schnitzel might be wide but usually not too thick. Most Schnitzels are served with a lemon wedge.

I have made Schnitzel many times with chicken breast including Chicken Cordon Bleu and it is delicious.

All schnitzels should be pan fried to be true and best. The accompanying photo is not from this article but rather a photo of what a good Schnitzel should look like....especially with Spatzel and serve with a lemon wedge to squirt over the Schnitzel if an alternate sauce is not made and believe me it is good on its own....OK with the Spatzel.

Schnitzel is usually made of pork, although turkey, chicken, and veal are also common. It is usually served with French fries, wedge potatoes, or Spatzel and though my experience south of Munich we often also got potato salad (and not hot potato salad, it was still with a light dressing but not hot).
