Ingredients
- 3 T. cocoa
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 c. milk, heated
- 4 egg yolks
- 2/3 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla

Step 1
Mix cocoa, sugar, flour and salt. Gradually add milk. Stirring, bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Gradually add 1/2 of boiled mixture to beaten egg yolks, then blend eggs into balance of hot mixture. Boil for 1 minute more.
Meringue: Beat 4 egg whites with 1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter. Gradually beat in 8 tablespoons sugar, a little at a time. Continue beating until stiff and sugar s dissolved. Spread meringue on pie and bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
