  • 4 slices thick bacon
  • 2 slices Monterey Jack cheese

  • 4 slices tomatoes

Preparation

Step 1

In a skillet, cook the bacon over moderate heat, turning, until crisp, about 8 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.

Set the Monterey Jack slices on 1 piece of toast. Spread the mayonnaise on the other slice of toast, then top with the bacon, tomato and lettuce.

In a small, nonstick skillet, melt the butter. Add the egg and fry over moderate heat, turning once, until crisp around the edge, about 4 minutes; the yolk should still be runny. Slide the egg onto the lettuce; close the sandwich and eat right away.

REVIEWS:

You have so many wonderful recipes but this one just didn't work for us. We love bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches, and BLT's,... but this combo recipe was just okay for us, and felt it's better to have one or the other. We do recommend others to trying it, 8 reviewers loved it prior to our review. Thanks for the opportunity to try it though, and thanks for posting.

I have to admit....I still prefer a BLT! But that being said, I tried to keep an open mind and really enjoy this sandwich. My problem was I wanted to leave the yolk runny, and when I took a bite that involved the yolk....well....it shot out all over my face! The taste was delicious, but the "eating of this sandwich" was a challenge, at least for me! I'll still leave 5 stars, as the taste is yummy.

I made this for lunch today. I used a Colby-Jack cheese. Very good, lunch was done in no time at all.

This made for a super filling breakfast this morning which I thoroughly enjoy, I quite often make BELTS for breakfast or lunch but this is the first time I have used cheese as well and I thoroughly enjoyed, I used slices of sharp vintage cheddar and wholemeal/wholegrain toasted bread. Thank you MsPia, and to Marra Mamba for recommending, made for I Recommend Tag Game.

Outstanding and outrageously good! I had some nice Italian multi-grain bread, which worked out great. The simplicity of this recipe is deceiving, because the complexity of the flavors is incredible. The jack cheese with the bacon with the mayo with the egg with the tomato...you get the idea. I can't wait to try this with next summer's crop of juicy tomatoes! In the meantime, I'll be enjoying with hothouse tomatoes.

A Dagwood of a sandwich, a piece of culinary artistry, this is a prince among sandwiches. Fantastic, filling and delicious.

Firstly I have to admit that I ended making more of a BL than a BLT, as the tomatoes that I had saved for this, had been eaten by the time that I got to the fridge. Nevertheless, I soldiered on...then I hit my next obstacle...as DH saw me assembling ingredients, his eyes narrowed, and in a tone of disgust proclaimed that I couldn't be thinking of using lettuce in a fried egg sandwich. He was duly informed that if he wanted to eat, he best keep his smart comments to himself...I didn't use the butter to fry my eggs- I just used the fat left from cooking the bacon, and instead of straight mayo, I opted to use Sharon123's Avocado Mayonnaise#202316, which is great, and really worked well with everything ( as well as being a little healthier too!) DH willing admitted that he had been hasty with his opinions, and actually went as far to say that it was probably one of the best BL and almost T's that he'd ever eaten...that's some praise!!
A really delicious, not to mention filling sandwich, that sets you up for the day with a smile on your face ( especially if your husband has had to admit that he was wrong!!). A winner all round!!

We loved this simple, hearty sandwich! I made it for brunch today using Whole Grain & Flax bread, American cheese slices (what was on hand), and my Easy Microwave Bacon Easy Microwave Bacon #173076. I will be making this again!

What a hearty, yummy breakfast(brunch) I had today! I used sprouted wheat berry bread, cheddar cheese, and romaine lettuce. Loved it! Thanks!
