  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 - 8 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar, set aside. Put milk, sugar, & shortening in pan over medium-high heat. When shortening begins to melt, take off heat and let finish melting. Pour this into yeast mixture (make sure it is just luke warm). Add beaten eggs, and 1/2 of flour - beat all together. Add remaining flour & knead for 5 minutes. Cover, and let rise in warm place (for 1 to 1 1/2 hours). Beat down & knead for another 5 minutes. Roll out and let rise again. Bake at 350' until brown.
