Ingredients
- 2/3 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 T. shortening
- 2/3 c. warm milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- Raisins (opt)
- Nuts (opt)
- Sugar
- Chopped nuts
- Butter

Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar added. Add shortening, 1/2 c. sugar and warm milk when yeast dissolves. Add 1 cup flour, beaten egg, raisins and nuts if desired. Add 2 1/2 cups flour. Mix well. Let rise in warm place for 1 1/2 hours. Work down and let rise for 1 more hour. Place in 3 (8-inch)pie pans. Sprinkle with sugar and chopped nuts. Dot with butter. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake until brown at 375 for approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
