  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 T. melted shortening
  • 4 c. flour

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of water. Add to rest of water with sugar and salt. Mix in flour, small amounts at a time, until a soft dough. Add melted shortening. Put on floured surface and knead in more flour to make a firm dough. Knead for 10 minutes. Place in a well greased bowl; cover and set in a warm place to rise. When doubled in bulk, punch down and let rise again until doubled in bulk again. Put on floured surface and roll out to a thickness of 1 inch. Spread with melted butter and a layer of sugar and cinnamon. Roll up. Cut into slices. Place in a well greased baking pan. Let rise for 20 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes.
