Ingredients
- 1 c. milk
- 5 T. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 T. melted shortening
- 2 pkgs. yeast
- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 6 c. flour

Step 1
Scald milk; add sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in water; add to milk mix. Add 3 cups flour and beat smooth. Add shortening and rest of flour. Knead well. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double, about 1 1/2 hours. Punch down; divide into 3 parts. Roll each 1/3 into circular shape, about 14-inch diameter. Brush lightly with butter and cut into 12 pie-shaped pieces. Roll up beginning at wide end. Shape into crescents. Place on ungreased sheet, cover and let rise for about 1 hour. Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes.
