Ingredients

  • 6 med. onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 c. butter or oleo
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 4 lg. onions (Vidalia or Texas onions are great in this dish)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese (if preferred, 1 lb. velveeta can be used.)

Step 1

Plase onions in lightly greased 2-quart casserole. Melt butter in heavy pan; add flour, stirring until smooth. Gradually add milk; cover over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Add cheese and salt; stir until smooth sauce. Pour over onions. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
